Milky Way February 5-9

What an interesting week it was for Milky Way students!
The graduation ceremony performance preparation has continued into this week as well. Most of the students have already remembered their speech lines, bell perfromance cues and the proper way to bow and hold the graduation certificate they will be receiving. They were also very excited to take their graduation photos at the school’s main entrance and many of the teachers agreed they looked very cute doing so. Only six weeks left until the graduation!
During our studies, the students have successfully completed the current unit of inquiry, by producing their final projects, showcasing various cycles observed in nature an din their own lives. The most popular ones were, again, life cycle of the butterfly and migration cycle of the sea turtle, but some students were very creative and made a diorama on cycles such as plastic bottle recycling. This time everyone was required to show independence and work on their projects individually, but they have successfully completed that task as well.
Math lessons were a lot of fun this week as well, as the students got a chance to set up their own shop, selling food products to other students, who used printed money to buy them. Some of the students made a mistake of not keeping in the required budget, but everyone showed plenty of thinking skills, trying to come up with the best way to satisfy both their hunger and their wallets.
Next week marks the start of the next unit of inquiry, dealing with resources. We should be getting more sun and warmer weather as well, so we hope to spend more time outside too.
