Hi everyone. This week we learned more about buildings in our community. Our focus for this and next week is residential buildings and their interior. We also want to compare buildings of the present with buildings of ages past. So on Thursday we had a field trip to visit a Babayashiki house. We had a good time and everyone enjoyed seeing what a house looked like in the Edo period.
We finished reading our book, Dan the tan man. For the next two weeks we will read “Get the pets”. In this book the phonics will be on the sound of the letter “e”.
IBの大元のテーマである「Where We Are in Place and Time 私たちはどのような時代、場所に生きているのか」に基づいて、先週より「Buildings」について学んでいるSS SVクラスですが、今週から「Buildings for Living 住むための建物」焦点を当てて学んでいます。私たちの住んでいる「家」はもちろん、アパートやホテル等々、何のための建物なのか？その建物の中で何が出来るのか？などを考えました。また、松本市内田にある重要文化財「馬場家住宅」にお出かけし、今の暮らしと昔の暮らしとどう違うのか？肌で感じ取ってきました。江戸時代の建物に、みんな大喜びで ”I like this house! ” “My grandparents house like this” などと口々に言っていましたが、最後の「どちらの家が好き？」の質問には、ほぼ全員一致で「今の家」でした。（笑）
