Rainforest started a new unit of inquiry on sharing the planet this week. Our central idea is “Sharing resources fairly helps the world”. This week we learned what a resource is, particularly natural resources, for example: water, trees and the sun. We learned about how fossils turn into oil, coal and gas.
The children knew that the sun helps plants grow and some of them knew that energy from volcanoes makes the hot water for hot springs. We learn a new term for volcano power: hydrothermic power.
We also did revision of subtraction and will continue learning more subtraction next week. The children who arrive before 9am so 20 minutes of contract time and those that arrive on the bus complete theirs after lunch in preparation for elementary.
