This week, Aurora class had an open school day wherein parents can go to school and observe or watch their children during morning circle time and lessons. So, thank you so much dear parents for coming. We really appreciate your presence and we hope that you enjoyed watching your children. Aside from the morning circle, we also showed them our phonics and UOI lessons.
In phonics, we learned about the last letter of the alphabet which is uppercase and lowercase letter Zz as in zoo, zip, zigzag, zebra, zero, and zucchini. We played Letter Zz basketball wherein we divided the students into two groups. They needed to choose the picture of the ball with a letter Z or z written on it, crumpled it into a ball, and shoot it in the tunnel(basket).🏀

今週、オーロラクラスに保護者の皆様がいらっしゃり、朝の会やレッスンに参加する子供たちを見て頂く参観日がありました。ご参加下さった保護者の皆様、誠にありがとうございました。 朝の会とフォニックス（またはUOI）のレッスンをご覧頂きました。
フォニックスでは、Zoo（動物園）、Zip（ジッパー）、Zigzag（ジグザグ）、Zebra（しまうま）、Zero（ゼロ）、Zucchini（ズッキーニ） のようなZ・z 、アルファベットの最後の文字について学びました。 クラスを 2 つのグループに分け、「 Z・z バスケットボールゲーム」を行いました。 Z・zと書かれたボールペーパー（カード）を選び、それをくしゃくしゃに丸め、バスケットゴールに投げ込みます。
In UOI, we had our Formative Assessment. I took off some of the pictures from our transportation wall and sorted them again accordingly. We did a transportation sorting game and students did a great job on this. We also started the prior knowledge assessment for LOI2: Past and Present Transportation. Since Aurora doesn’t understand what past and present mean, we used the words old and new for the meantime. I showed pictures of transportation and asked the students if they thought it was old or new. They had to make a line in front of the word of their answer and if they didn’t know the answer they could just stand in the middle. We counted who answered old, new, and I don’t know, and wrote the number on the big paper together with the pictures of transportation.
UOI では途中経過評価を行いました。 乗り物群（空・陸・海）の壁からいくつかのイラストを取り出し、再度並べ替えを行いました。交通整理ゲームで子ども達は素晴らしい活躍をしました。 また、LOI2: として過去と現在の乗り物についての既知情報の評価を始めました。子ども達は”過去”と”現在”の意味（概念）を理解していないので、最初は「古い」「新しい」という言葉を使いました。 乗り物の写真を見せて、それが古いものなのか、新しいものなんかを質問し、OLD/NEWのどちらかの列に並んで答えてもらいました（わからない場合は真ん中に立ちます）。古い、新しい、わからない、と答えた子の人数を数え大きな紙に結果を書き込みました。
The highlight of the week was our visit to Okubohara park. We were able to see an old train or steam locomotive. Everyone was amazed with what they saw. When I asked them, “Is it an old or a new train?” They confidently answered, “It’s old train!” They noticed the wheels of the train. The wheels in front are smaller than the rest. They said, “The wheels are giant!” After getting inside the train, we let them touch and observe the outside of the train. One student said, “Ms. Fronie, I can see the headlight!” The other student pointed at the tank and tried to explain what’s inside the tank and how the train moves. It was just amazing that our students remembered what we were learning from the book and shared their personal knowledge about transportation. When we came back to school, we saw some students, looked at the transportation books in our classroom and found the same steam train we saw at the park. They even showed us their shirts with the same train.
今週の注目は、大久保原公園の訪問でした。 古い電車（SL:蒸気機関車）を見ることができました。 誰もが見たもの（SL）に驚いていました。「これは古い列車ですか、それとも新しい列車ですか」と聞くと、 「古い列車だ！」と自信満々に答えてくれました。 彼らは列車の車輪に気づきました、 前方の車輪は他の車輪よりも小さかったのです。「車輪が大きい！！」と言っていました。 電車に乗り込み、内部の部品を触ったり、列車の外部を観察したり・・。 ある子が言いました。「フロニー先生！ヘッドライトがあるよ！」 もう一人の子はタンク（石炭積載用車両）を指差して、その中身（石炭）と機関車の動きについて説明しようとしました。 本から学んだことを覚えていて、乗り物についての知識を共有してくれたのは驚くべきことでした。 園に戻ったとき、子ども達と教室で乗り物の本を見て公園で見たものと同じ蒸気機関車を見つけました。 また、機関車のTシャツを見せてくれた子もいます。
